Visual artwork by Winston Harris titled In Due Time

All Night Jazz Journey

Work By Winston Harris

Thursday, January 28, 2021 - Wednesday, March 24, 2021

Winston Harris works in printmaking, where he modifies the artwork by refining, refurnishing, and resurfacing the print's surface in order to identify the bold colors and present stencil-like patterns embedded in the design. He integrates other traditional printmaking techniques, such as lithographs, silkscreen, etching, monotypes, etc. with a collage process or combines digital prints with hand-colored processes like watercolors, colored pencils, charcoal, paints, etc. Harris works to display how American music may look as visual sound. When creating, he listens to Jazz artists such as, Jean-Luc Ponty, Quincy Jones, and Miles Davis. His artwork is also an attempt to create unification between different ethnicities and particular cultural ideologies.

Visual Artwork by S Davies

Community Spirit

 Paintings by Sally Davies

Thursday, April 1, 2021 - Thursday, May 20, 2021

Sally Davies creates paintings that hope to create a bond of community spirit. In a world of insular countries and self-protectionism, Davies wants to show the planet as one whole place and an overall compassionate community. The ‘Community Spirit’ is conveyed through the groups of people in the paintings and the birds eye view angle. This draws the viewer in and includes them in that communal spirit. Elements of architecture, dramatic lighting, and long shadows reverberate with aspects of ordinary humanity and easily could take place in any number of locations around our world.

Selected Works

Thursday, June 3, 2021 - Thursday, July 15, 2021

From the Collection is an exhibition of selected pieces from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division’s collection of artworks. The collection contains over 100 pieces of art that were purchased from Prince George’s County artists and underscores our continued commitment to supporting the many talented visual artists in the county. Many pieces in the collection are permanently installed in various M-NCPPC facilities around the county and others, including the ones now on display, rotate around to other facilities based on needs or availability. These pieces were selected to show the variety of works in the collection, both by varied media and theme.
